[TEST] Just to Make Sure…

This post really serves no purpose except as a test to make sure everything is working. I am mostly concerned if my feed redirections and new Technorati claims are ok. Well, this should just about do it.

Possible Blog Downtime Ahead

Good Afternoon.

I just want to give my readers some warning that this weekend I will be moving this blog from it’s current location to http://www.caydel.com. For those that don’t know, Caydel is a nick I use in forums, chats, and is the name I am best known by in the Search world. So, for brandability purposes, and proper SEO purposes, this blog will be moved.

I will be setting up a 301 redirect, so all the links pointing to the current blog should still resolve to the new site, pointing at the correct posts etc. However, I would appreciate it if anyone still linking here would be so kind as to change their links to point at my new location.

Thank you for your patience!

Update: The move is over and done with now - no explosions, and only a few minuted of downtime while I was tinkering with the redirect. Luckily, despite problems, jpeg and noodl at #apache on irc.freenode.net set me straight - Thanks guys!

In The Spirit of Halloween Past

Yes, I know halloween is now past again. However, I just saw the best pumpkin carving job I have *ever* seen, and decided I *had* to post it here on the blog. May I present ‘The Man in Orange’.

Man in Orange

I think that is just wild…

Use Google to Get Dates

Yes, you read that right.

I just stumbled upon an interesting/funny/scary piece by Damien Mulley entitles, ‘How to Use Google to Get a Girl and Get Laid‘. In it, Damien describes all types of different ways you can use Google’s various services to meet women. Such as buying .com and using Adwords to bid on therms such as ‘Mr. Right’. Or using Google Base to search the personals for ‘desperate women’. Only as a last resort, of course.

36 Humourous Proof Methods

Having been through a large number of Mathematics courses while finishing up University in the last couple of years, this list struck me as extremely funny. I know for a fact that I have used a number of these ‘proof styles’ in my homework, and hoped they would skip past my professor.

My favorite,  which I have heard a number of times is,

Proof by Necessity:  “It had better be true, or the entire structure of mathematics would crumble to the ground.”

So, without more ado, 36 Humorous Proof Methods. Enjoy!

Readership Census!

Hello.

It’s been a while since I last tried to figure out what type of readership I have, or what kind of audience I am reaching. So, it would help me out a lot if anyone who is reading this wouldn’t mind dropping a comment on this post just so I know who I am all writing to. If you are feeling extra motivated, perhaps you could include some details about yourself.

Watch me get a complete lack of comments to this post, forcing me to conclude that I am writing to a bunch of bots and feed aggregators with no ‘real’ humans reading anything I write…

At any rate, looking forward to reading your comments!

Coming Back to Life…

So, you may have noticed a few things about this blog.

  1. Post volume has dropped considerably over the last two months.
  2. A great new theme

I guess I have a bit of explaining to do - the last month and a half, I have been back in school, finishing up my last year of my B.Sc in Computer Science with a Math minor, things have gotten busy, and I have had less and less time. And, well, I’ve gotten involved in more and more online projects, and the blog has begun to take a bit of a back seat compared to the rest.

Well, I have decided to make it a bit more of a priority again. To this end, I have set it up with a new, somewhat professional looking theme, and am going to be making more of an effort to post regularily again, hopefully a few times per week, hopefully more!

To some extent, this is like slapping new paint on a house to make it look better…

I do have some large-scale plans for this blog, though. I definately plan to put it on it’s own, dedicated domain soon. I am soon going to register a ‘professional’ domain to hold my blog, resume, and generally be a more professional way to promote my SEO/SEM services.

Thanks to all my current subscribers for hanging on through the dry spell - I promise to put a better effort in!
